Opera Hong Kong presents The Magic Flute

Opera Hong Kong presents Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, The Magic Flute, featuring exceptional operatic talent that will take your breath away. This production will be set in a Chinese cultural context and include Cantonese dialogue and costumes. It features soloists and a live orchestra as part of the set on the stage which is sure to captivate Hong Kong audiences.
The story revolves around the forces of good versus evil, and it represents the culmination of Mozart’s creative genius and versatility. Written in 1791, the final year of his life, the opera is renowned for its extremely challenging vocal requirements. Both arias sung by the Queen of the Night are some of the most famous and challenging in the standard operatic repertoire, featuring some of the highest notes required to be sung by a soprano in any opera. The minimalist stage setting allows the audience to see the integration of all the musical parts of the production and provides a highly accessible platform for first-time and frequent opera-goers alike.
