Sheraton Grand Macao Hotel’s Shine Spa, the largest Sheraton Spa in the Asia Pacific region promised an experience of relaxation and rejuvenation. Sitting next to East meets West of Sheraton Grand Macao’s Sky Tower their extensive inspired menu of lavish experiences are tailored to address all our needs ranging from relaxing massages to luxurious facials. Delicately infused with Western traditions and the five balancing principles and elements of Feng Shui – Fire, Wood, Water, Earth, and Metal, it was hard to pick just one treatment.
Warmly greeted by the massage therapist, I was led to a room that resonated with a zone of pure tranquillity and warmth. Earthy tones and calming design helped me upscale to a cozy and comfortable environment. I chose to experience a unique and interesting full body treatment called Lava Bamboo, one of the two choices listed under the wood category of their Signature Five Element Treatments spa menu. The lava bamboo therapeutic massage helps release blocked energy and stress knots.
The treatment began with a gentle footbath and massage, and the therapist cared to take note of my pains and aches. She also suggested various pressure levels and I opted for a medium with a deep focus on my shoulders. The atmosphere was filled with the sweet, earthy scent of the incense as the therapist massaged my back and shoulders then legs and arms. She’ll then drove out negative energy from the body by massaging outwards and releasing the stress through your fingertips and toes. Every time I settled the rhythm of my breathing it was as if I soaked in new, positive energy. She rolled out every tight muscle with deep tissue techniques with bamboo sticks and even more deeply in tense areas.
The massage was very warm, relaxing and exquisite. It increased circulation and gave relief to sore muscles. It is indeed good for those seeking deep relaxation and is a great alternative to traditional massages. It is also said to be loved by those who engage in sports or physical activities. The massage ended (I wish it never did) with a cup of lemongrass ginger tea that was just what my weary body needed. I let the oils soak in for a few more minutes to get the full moisturizing benefits.
