It might seem a bit odd seeing this trend again in 2019, after a number of posts on different social media platforms went viral describing how fashion was on the early 2000s. But this style of choice of wearing a dress over pants, makes much more sense than ever, as fashion trends go to the direction of being unisex and more modest. When done the right way, it may be the next big trend in fashion once again, notwithstanding weather appropriate, as temperature drops and cooler weather comes. Other than the warmth this style brings without ditching a well-loved dress, it creates a leg-lengthening illusion and adds a certain level of quirk. Will it translate to the city of Macau? This season makes it the perfect time to experiment with this idea.
CALVIN KLEIN 205W39NYC
Calvin Klein has made it a point to standardize its positioning on their style, and that it revolves around the theme of reworked classics versus the specific Americana interpretations explored in previous seasons. Making use of draped day-to-night dresses made of ribbed cotton velvet and a ruched piece in papery material, the styling is paired with a wide array of trousers patched from top to bottom with leather, tweed, and corduroy. To cap it all off, the looks are completed and accessorized with tailored jackets boasted lapels, collars and seams and pointy white western boots. This approach may be new to the brand, but it still gels with the American lifestyle.

ROKSANDA
Modest as usual, Roksanda Pre-Fall 2019 takes design and color inspirations from the works of Bangladeshi-British artist Rana Begum which revolve around pinks and greens. Being true to the modest and conservative styling, the brand plays with forgiving shapes and cuts to create a swingy and swirling silhouette with all the pleating techniques on the fabric.

PRABAL GURUNG
Prabal Gurung’s Pre-Fall 2019 collection reflects a sense of optimism with the exuberant choice of colors, wild prints, and patterns with a reference to the healthy form of body consciousness and feminist movement alongside nods to his Nepalese roots. Two key design elements stand out of this collection–he dip-dyed cashmere he has made in Nepal and the color-blocked clingy knit dresses and separates. That being said, the matching denim pieces are the true winner of this collection.

PROENZA SCHOULER
Styling-wise, it is evident that rawness and high street casual looks makeup the Pre-Fall 2019 collection of Proenza Schouler. Dresses are layered over skinny, ankle-zip flares, full trousers, or showed under an oversize raw felt topcoat, which is very much old school Proenza Schouler. In this collection, one will see a combination of different textures and garments–leather with denim, cotton with satin and wool with silk amongst many others.
