At the end of June, artisanal jewellery designers will be descending on Macau to celebrate the magic of Portuguese jewellery. The Portuguese Jewellery À La Carte is the first-ever event in a promotional series held alongside some of the world’s leading jewellery fairs in Hong Kong. The Portuguese Jewellery À La Carte promises to be an unmissable event that will showcase all the variety, quality, and creativity Portuguese jewellery has to offer.
Every piece of jewellery tells a story. Hidden behind every jewel or accessory is a unique tale of craftsmanship and a narrative that recounts the transformative spirit of how that piece changed from a simple element into an elegant masterpiece. This is why for centuries, jewellery has become a crucial aspect of not just fashion, power or prestige to the person wearing it, but also for the creators and designers behind the scenes.
Macau’s small but mighty presence in the region is paving way for the old and new to co-exist in all kinds of industries, including jewellery. This is why it is the best place and platform to showcase Portuguese Jewellery as an evolving art and tradition. With the institutional support of the Consulate General of Portugal in Macau and Hong Kong, the AORP – Portuguese Jewellery and Watchmaking Association, will proudly present the exclusive showcase of Portuguese Jewellery on June 28 and 29. It will take place at the Consular Residence of Portugal in Macau, a fitting venue once known as Hotel Bela Vista.
The title of the event, Portuguese Jewellery À La Carte, aptly takes inspiration from the culinary sciences and echoes Macau’s designation as a Creative City of Gastronomy by UNESCO. Like the fine art of dining, the world of jewellery is a journey of the senses. From creation to possession, it stirs up emotions that stay with us for a long time. This event is set to captivate not just jewellery enthusiasts but purveyors of art and creativity as well.
