Duckling Gourmet is a branch of restaurants in Macau specializing in BBQ meats, with signature dishes like char siu, roasted pork, roasted white and black chicken, and roasted duck. It’s usually filled with locals and tourists alike who enjoy this kind of traditional Cantonese dish. There are also set lunches featuring a main dish, a Chinese-style soup broth (meat and vegetables), and hot tea.
The meats usually come with a side of plain rice and they’re very popular for takeout as well, with lots of locals heading there before mealtime to grab one of their dishes. Duckling Gourmet has a welcoming vibe and although staff only speaks Chinese, the menu helps with orders. Unlike another local restaurant, Duckling Gourmet offers wide seating areas and it’s well organized, welcoming the whole family, groups of friends, or people eating on their own. The counter on the left side is for takeaway order while dining in requires an empty table. With glass windows, pedestrians walking by can see people eat inside, while the meat is also displayed while chefs cook and cut it.
Although opened till 11:00pm, most signature foods are sold out quite early, around 8:00pm or 9:00pm. Heading there early is advisable.
