Wa Fong (sometimes spelled Va Fung) is a restaurant with several branches across Macau. Concentrating on the northern part of the city, it also has a branch in Taipa’s main avenue, where lots of people flock to dine, especially for dinner and late-night dining as well. Wa Fong’s popularity may be related to its wide variety of simple, yet delectable foods which are all freshly made every day.
From dim sum items in bamboo baskets to stir-fried noodles with meat, seafood or vegetables, this eatery is very popular amongst both locals and expats, although the northern Macau branches are usually frequented by residents from surrounding areas. The other three branches are open till 11:00pm, while Taipa’s never closes, serving food 24 hours a day however, staff might run out of the most ordered items before dinner time. Signature dishes include BBQ meats–char siu, roasted pork, Hainanese-style chicken, dark roasted chicken and roasted duck–but also sweet items such as buns with egg, pastries of flaky dough with cooked milk, char siu sou (crispy pastries with BBQ pork inside), among others. Some of their most popular steamed dumplings include ever-favorites filled with shrimp, pork meat, and original spinach with scallops and garlic.
Wa Fong is highly frequented by locals and its vibe is welcoming and cheerful, although loud and busy sometimes. The restaurant serves a wide array of Cantonese-style foods and drinks, including affordable beer and soft drinks.
