The Lunar New Year is the most important and colourful festival in the Chinese calendar. In February, there are a huge number of events organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office to mark the occasion. Aside from street parades featuring a giant dragon and lion dances, there is also a Parade for Celebration of the Year of the Pig. After that event, there are lots of opportunities for the public to take photographs of the floats that were used. They go on exhibition first at the Macao Science Center and later at Tap Seac Square.
February 5
The festivities start with a dragon and lion dance performance, appearances by the God of Fortune, the Gods of Happiness, Prosperity and Longevity, 12 Chinese Zodiac Mascots, entourage Boy and Girl and Macao Tourism Mascot and distribution of Lai Si and souvenirs at the arrival hall of the Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal. There will also be distribution of Lai Si and souvenirs by the God of Fortune, which will take place at the Senado Square and the Ruins of St. Paul, so be ready for a popular celebration to remember!
There will also be an eye-dotting ceremony of Gigantic Dragon and Lion, dragon and lion dance performance, and firecrackers as well as two parades: the Parade of Gigantic Dragon and Lion, God of Fortune, Gods of Happiness, Prosperity and Longevity, 12 Chinese Zodiac Mascots, Entourage Boy and Girl, Macao Tourism Mascot, and the Parade of Gigantic Dragon, jointly with firecrackers! Chinese New Year Animation can be seen throughout the city as well.

February 7
The celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Establishment of Macao SAR with a festive parade takes place on two separate days and is expected by the residents and tourists as a grand spectacle to commemorate the Year of the Pig. There will also be a parade float exhibition at the Macau Science Center which will be open to public until February 10, 2019.
Besides all these, there is also a fireworks display spectable, at the seafront area of Macau Tower! Welcome this Chinese New Year with colorful and noisy festivities. The Macau government is also organizing several cultural performances to take place on the coming days of this new year.
