What does the word “fashion” mean to you?
Fashion means the attitude of lifestyle to me. Seriously, a divine piece of design can light me up even when it’s a bad day. It brings me the fresh air, sunshine and good vibe.
How would you describe your personal style?
Can I say “effortless chic style”? Actually, I have no clue of what kind of style I belong to. I love to try different styles and see how different I can be. But there is only one rule I insist on—less is more. I like pure color, fewer layers, and less decoration. I think the cutting and matching plays the role of style. That is why I am not a shopaholic, but I can create millions of styles.
How do you get your daily dose of fashion information?
From magazines and social media. And I love traveling, people in different places will give me different ideas of fashion. I don’t always follow the rules because all the information and sense is in my brain.
Does fashion allow people to express their individuality or does it force people to conform?
Fashion is a way for people to express their individuality for sure. Fashion rules are for those people who don’t know how to make style. But fashion won’t chain your creation, it inspires you instead.
Does the media (or the fashion industry) play some role in creating or continuing stereotypes?
Media should play role in creating, but many of them just stay the same and won’t put a step forward. I think media can discover more interesting things in everyday people just like you did. These people are the audience of fashion, not the Hollywood stars.
How does Macau inspire the way you dress?
Macau is a multicultural place, there is no limit to fashion styles and people won’t judge you by what you wear. It’s also a colorful place with a holiday vibe, so I will wear lovely jumper skirts, off-shoulders, and hot pants for sure.
What do you think of Macau’s fashion scene? How can it be improved?
It has the sense of history as well as modernization. It’s also a combination of Chinese and Western culture. These elements make Macau a unique place. I think the multiculturalism is the key to Macau’s fashion scene.
What’s your go-to outfit when you don’t know what to wear?
White T-shirt and blue jeans, classic and never is wrong.
What is your favorite place to shop in Macau?
Hotels in Cotai are the best places to shop. They centralized most of the brands in the world, and the environment is delightful.
Who takes photos of your outfits?
A professional photographer will take my model shots and my boyfriend and friends will take photos of me in daily life.
How much attention do you pay to fashion in terms of trends in the way you dress?
I will acknowledge what kind of style is the most popular of the year, but I won’t fully follow the trend. I will select some trendy elements that suit me and add more personal character in my style.
Which social media platform are you most active on? Why?
Instagram and WeChat are the most active because both of them are very easy to use. I can see all the people around the world through Instagram and I can know my friends daily life and thoughts through Wechat.
Which celebrities have the best style to you?
I have to say that Victoria Beckham is a real stylist. Her style used to be a stereotype but when she became a designer, things changed! I admire her power and determination in the fashion industry. And I also love Angelina Jolie. And Kendall Jenner is a rising star, she is very sensitive to fashion.
How can Macau improve its fashion scene?
Multicultural is the key point to Macau. I think Macau fashion should step out and show its beauty to the world. As long as there are more people interested in Macau fashion, there will be more possibilities in the fashion scene.
