Show Me the Way to: Macau’s Best Cocktail Bars

The St. Regis Bar – Negroni Variations Full Picture

The days of Long Island Ice Tea and Sex On the Beach cocktails are almost over. Now, there are probably as many cocktail aficionados who can smell a good Old Fashioned from afar as Michelin-star restaurant fans. Mixology walks hand in hand with gastronomy, one influencing the other. It’s no wonder that Macau’s cocktail culture is developing quickly, and there are plenty of cool spots to have a drink. With a myriad of bars around the city, which ones have the best cocktails? Check out our guide to Macau’s best cocktail bars and plan a visit!

The St. Regis Bar Macao

(see featured image above)

New York has been one of the world’s cocktail capitals since the beginning of the 20th century, the era that, among other phenomena, brought us speakeasies and jazz. No wonder one of the best spots for a cocktail in Macau is The St. Regis Bar, the signature establishment of the luxury hotel chain that originated in the Big Apple. Ranked No. 22 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars 2024,  The St. Regis’ Bar Macao embodies all the fascinating elements of the St. Regis Brand and NYC cocktail culture.

From original cocktails named after NYC boroughs to the classic recipes with a twist, the menu offers an extensive range of exciting concoctions for every taste. Curated by Taipei-native Kevin Lai, the cocktail menu tells a story with every drink, inspired by pages of New York history, its landmarks, and cultural references. Makes you book those flights ASAP!

Check out their Bloody Mary menu if you are fond of this savory drink. As this recipe was created at the King Cole Bar in The St. Regis Hotel New York, every other bar of the chain makes its own interpretation of the timeless classics. Macau’s version is called Maria do Leste, a combination of spicy, smoky, fresh, and salty notes. It features ingredients from the Portuguese Empire ex-colonies, following the trail of Portuguese sailors. While sipping a cocktail of your choice, enjoy the sounds of jazz performed by a talented duo of musicians, Aaron Lo, a pianist and vocalist, and Jandira Silva, a vocalist.

Great Fortune

The Ritz-Carlton Bar & Lounge

Hands down, The Ritz-Carlton Bar & Lounge is one of the most popular spots for a drink in a classy setting. The awarded bar is located on the 51st floor of the luxurious The Ritz-Carlton, Macau, which features stunning views of Cotai, a live band on weekends, and, of course, unique creations that won them those awards and loyal customers. There is no better bar to savor gin and tonics than the Ritz’s gin collection, which has around 140 bottles! As for the cocktails, many of them are gin-based, however, not exclusively.

The signature cocktails mostly have a sweet flavor profile and feature typical Asian ingredients. Sawayaka, inspired by Japan, is mixed with yuzu-infused gin and maraschino. Great Fortune’s main elements are concubine tea-infused gin and Kyoto liqueur. If you don’t find a drink you’d like on the menu, just ask the friendly bartender. Their expertise in mixing and knowledge of recipes won’t leave you disappointed.

Vida Rica Bar

What do we love about Vida Rica Bar at Mandarin Oriental, Macau? Picking just one reason is impossible. With its prime location by Nam Van Lake, it’s one of the city’s top spots for sunset views. Add to that the bar’s chic interior, stellar service, and most importantly, its inventive cocktail culture—and you’ll understand why it’s a favorite.

Local bartenders here are masters of their craft and always up for a good chat. They excel at blending unexpected flavors to create drinks that are as imaginative as they are delicious. Expect cutting-edge mixology, a seamless blend of gastronomy and cocktail artistry, and a willingness to tailor each drink to your taste. Be sure to explore their Sensing The Multiverse cocktail menu by Stefano Bussi, the winner of 2024 World Class Hong Kong & Macau —a bold, multi-sensory experience inspired by alternate realities and flavors from parallel worlds, offering a playful, immersive twist on traditional cocktails.

Old Fashioned

The Macallan Whisky Bar & Lounge

As the name suggests, Macallan is where you should go if your whiskey knowledge goes beyond Jim Beam and Jack Daniels. A cozy interior with leather armchairs, a fireplace, and vintage carpets resembles an elegant living room that sets a perfect stage for single malt appreciation. However, not everybody knows that Macallan is also one of the best cocktail bars in town. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be on this list, right?

From classic cocktails to signature creations, they can mix anything you wish. Naturally, there are many whiskey-based cocktails. If you ask, they would add a particular whiskey to the blend. One of their distinguished offerings is the Old Fashioned experience. Choose a liquor you prefer, bourbon, Japanese whiskey, or cognac, and watch the bartender work his magic on the whiskey trolley. Although their focus lies in whiskey and whiskey-based drinks, there are all kinds of spirits and even a whole page of different mojitos, if you feel like having something tropical.

Bar Patuá

Patuá at MGM Cotai got its name from the local creole language, a fusion of European and Asian elements. Everything at the bar reflects this concept, from the interior to the menu. Its design is in gold and beige with bright ruby accents, azulejo coasters, and Portuguese wall art, which takes guests on an exciting adventure of unique Macanese culture and mixology wonders. Patuá’s head bartender is a geek when it comes to cocktails and spirits. He loves getting into specifics, learning all the details about the production and ancient traditions to create perfectly balanced concoctions.

The signature cocktail menu features five drinks influenced by five establishments at MGM. Patuá is a complex blend of Chinese and Portuguese flavors with sweet, sour, and spicy notes. The spices and flavors of Five Foot Road restaurants are represented in the cocktail with Sichuan pepper notes and homemade bitters. Refreshing and fruity Rossio is a lighter cocktail perfect if you like drinks such as sangria or Aperol spritz. Don’t hesitate to ask the bartender for advice. If you didn’t find anything you want, he’d surprise you with an impressive mix explicitly crafted for your taste.

Goa Nights

Goa Nights, now located at Broadway Macau, continues to impress with its vibrant atmosphere, flavorful Indian tapas, and world-class cocktails. With excellent service, lively beats, and a cozy yet energetic setting, it’s no surprise this spot was named Best Non-Hotel Bar at The Bar Awards Hong Kong and Macau 2019.

When it comes to drinks, their menu is a thoughtful mix of classics and signature creations. If you enjoy time-tested Prohibition-era recipes, you’ll find everything from Negronis and Old Fashioneds to Boulevardiers and Hanky Pankys—executed flawlessly.

Even more exciting is their collection of nine signature cocktails inspired by the voyages of Vasco da Gama. Each one is named after a destination and incorporates a key regional ingredient—like Lisbon with port wine or Cape Verde with coconut rum. There’s also a section of drinks that pay tribute to Goa and Macau landmarks, letting you sip your way through history and culture without ever leaving your seat.

L’Attitude

Located inside the sleek Morpheus at City of Dreams, L’Attitude is your go-to when you want your meal to feel like a mini escape—think Mediterranean flavors, ocean-fresh dishes, and cocktails that steal the spotlight. The bar here is where classic drinks get a coastal makeover, with sunny vibes and playful twists in every glass. From the floral-forward Bella Rosa to the smoky-sweet Pineapple Ocean, the cocktails are as pretty as they are punchy. Feeling adventurous? Try the herbaceous Nature Breeze or the Smoky Fruit, which packs a bourbon kick with a hibiscus hug. You might come for one, but you’ll probably stay for a few more.

Not seeing exactly what you’re craving? Just let the bartenders know—these pros love a challenge and are always happy to craft something just for you.

Wing Lei Bar

A jewel box, that’s what they call Wing Lei Bar for its opulent design with an antique 18th-century chandelier, mirrors, emerald plush, and semi-precious stones. After you finish creating content for social media, take a seat and start a dialogue on tastes and preferences with a bartender. Wing Lei’s Off-Menu bespoke experience allows cocktail aficionados to get a drink based on their likes and dislikes.

Should you wish to glance at the menu, check the Wing Lei Signatures menu by head mixologist Mark Lloyd—a bold celebration of classic cocktails. Expect croissant-washed cognac in your Sidecar, pandan vodka with white chocolate in your Pandantini, and a Margarita kicked up with lacto-fermented chilli and coriander. With a focus on timeless techniques, house infusions, and a “limitless cocktails” philosophy, every drink is a deep dive into flavor, memory, and meticulous detail—served with a side of serious style.

SW Steakhouse cocktail mezcal negroni wynn palace macau

SW Negroni

SW Steakhouse

One of Macau’s best steakhouses and another Wynn Palace establishment on our list, SW Steakhouse, is much more than a restaurant with juicy ribeyes and filet mignons. If you have been postponing a fancy dinner date, uncertain if you can afford it, come to the restaurant and head directly to the bar counter. If steaks are not your goal, it doesn’t mean you should ignore the place completely. The local team of mixologists knows their craft and is eager to share some secrets with you over a flowing conversation while mixing you a cocktail. Tell them what you like and trust their instincts!

But don’t forget to explore the drinks menu and see what they have to offer. The signatures here are original interpretations of all-time favorites. Try SW’s take on Tom Collins called Yuzu Collins, a refreshing drink with yuzu. However, their forte is the aged barrel cocktails matured in American oak barrels. The aging process is a science that requires expertise and precision every step of the way. The maturation adds mellowness and takes off the edge. If done right, aged cocktails, even the strongest ones, are smooth and easy to drink. So if Negroni is your poison, then SW Negroni should be on your must-try list.

Antica Trattoria

An Italian restaurant run by a Portuguese Macau local, Antica Trattoria also offers some of the city’s coolest cocktails. Frankly, it is a no-brainer because Bruno Santos is an established mixologist well-known in Macau. Moreover, he is the founder of UBCM (Union of Bartenders & Cocktails of Macau) and the secretary at IBA, International Bartenders Association. And last but not least, Antica Trattoria received the Hospitality Team of the Year award at The Bar Awards Hong Kong & Macau 2019, a well-deserved appreciation.

If the numerous titles and awards don’t faze you, let’s get down to mixology. To connect Macau’s diverse history with cocktail culture, Bruno and his team created the Little Red Book, a selection of six creations inspired by the historical event of 1966 and its preconditions. With every drink, you can learn a little about Macau’s past and the bartenders’ mastery of blending Asian and Western liquors and ingredients. Home-made syrups go together with Chinese baijiu and spiced liquors, Porto is mixed with Agua Ardente and poured into a teacup; both flavors and presentation are surprising but impressive. You would not find something similar anywhere else in town!

It’s cozy, intimate, and just the right amount of mysterious. The vibe is botanical and sleek, and the cocktails? Thoughtful, theatrical, and packed with flavor.

LongBar Raffles Macau

Long Bar at Raffles, Galaxy Macau

Tucked behind a porthole door in the heart of Galaxy Macau, the Long Bar at Raffles is one of the city’s coolest new speakeasies—and it’s got the cocktails to match. Designed by Joyce Wang and inspired by the legendary Portuguese ship Madre de Deus, the space feels like a cavernous hideaway for modern explorers. Think chiseled stone interiors, warm lighting, and a vibe that’s equal parts mysterious and luxurious.

The drinks? A journey, no less. Led by acclaimed Hong Kong mixologist Antonio Lai, the bar’s team serves beautifully balanced gin-based cocktails infused with spice trade flavors—clove, nutmeg, cinnamon, and more. Expect vintage twists, Macau exclusives, and expertly mixed classics, all set to a backdrop of vinyl DJ sets that add just the right amount of edge. Try Macau’s elevated take on the Singapore Sling—made with clarified pineapple and purple lotus-seed syrup—or go all-in on the Million Dollar Cocktail, a luxe mix of Two Moons gin, Chinese pear, red ginseng, and Tibetan cordyceps, served in a US$500 Baccarat crystal glass. Whatever you put your mind to, Long Bar won’t disappoint.
