As you enter the exquisite Banyan Tree lobby the first thing you’ll notice besides the beautiful interiors is their signature aroma. Did you know Banyan Tree schedules and uses different fragrances every day? They may have a variety of scent daily but their main signature fragrance is lemongrass essential oil. It is one of the strongest yet natural and safest scents to keep mosquitoes away. It is concocted especially to protect young children and the health of pregnant women. What better and exciting way to make your very own aromatic mosquito spray than to use natural and organic ingredients at Banyan Tree’s special workshop this summer.
Located on the 31st floor, the workshop feels like you’re in a chemistry class but a lavish one, as tiny beakers and various kinds of essential oil potions lay beautifully on the table.
Banyan Tree’s Spa Director, Annie Jang, welcomed us and introduced how important and helpful it is to use natural contents instead of store bought sprays that can be harmful to our health and skin. As she guides you through the whole procedure, you learn how to experiment and combine the essential ingredient of clove tincture with different kinds of oils such as Citronella that has a similar scent to Lemongrass and helps repel mosquitoes. Lavender enhances blood circulation and calms the skin, while Ylang Ylang and Jasmine give a flowery aroma if you’re more sensitive to the stronger essential oils. The best news is that it’ll last for three good months, meaning you can enjoy your mosquito-free summer!
Taking place every Saturday of June and July from 3pm – 4:30pm for MOP $380 per person including one afternoon tea at Banyan Tree Lounge, similar to Kate’s experience of A Birdcage Afternoon Tea Set, don’t forget to try out their hot Teh Terik – a smooth and thick Malay milk tea.
