Weng U is currently blonde, two decades old and a fresh graduate of The University of Manchester where she did her English Literature with Creative Writing degree. She first got published when she was sixteen writing for the American social justice magazine “Affinity”. She has since had her poetry published in the university’s own student journal and creative writing zine. She has also written film reviews for “The Mancunion”, the largest student university newspaper in the UK.
Since studying English Literature, Weng U has realized that she is deeply passionate about feminism. She is extremely grateful to be living in the 21st century after it has dawned on her that the world has been written by men and for men for centuries which has disproportionately shaped the way we see the world. She wishes to contribute to the world by offering a confident and unique female voice that has been nurtured by her upbringing in Macau and her experience in Manchester as a Chinese woman. Weng U adores writing–she’s written short stories, poetry, dabbled in screenplays, and is currently writing a play!
When she’s not writing, she loves listening to music and going to gigs. She hopes to get better at the electric guitar so she can be a writer and the first Chinese Joan Jett one day.
