Cheong Kei is a traditional Cantonese noodles restaurant located in the city center, at Rua da Felicidade. Cheong Kei is known for serving signature wonton noodles soup, shrimp roe noodles, and other Cantonese-style foods. It also serves tea and soft drinks, with noodles at its specialty: they still do them in a traditional way, kneaded by hand with a bamboo tool. Other favorites include their fried fish balls and fish cakes.
Cheong Kei has a simple yet welcoming vibe and although the staff doesn’t speak English, they are comprehensive and eager to help with requests and the menu. Located a short walk from Senado Square, it gathers both locals–especially at lunchtime and early dinner–and visitors who’ve heard about their noodles.
