We know the weather isn’t helping, but there are a bunch of cool and exciting things to do around town indoors! Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau launched Fado Nights at Café Bela Vista happening every week, so book your table and have a relaxing night of Portuguese traditional music, wine and snacks! There are also a lot of brand new exhibitions to check out in Macau, part of Art Macao 2021’s edition so be sure to check them out this weekend. We’ve also tried–and loved–Grand Hyatt Macau’s Lobby Lounge New Menu and their National Daiquiri Day. Saturday Night Champagne Fever at MGM Cotai

Indulge in a night of bubbly with your friends at MGM Cotai’s Anytime Champagne Night! You and your squad will love their offer of a three-hour free-flow of Thienot Brut Champagne and an array of savory and sweet selections from their decadent evening menu. These include buckwheat blinis and double cream, French oysters, Rougie duck foie gras terrine (brioche toast and maraschino cherry), burrata with warm bread, olive oil, and Bonini balsamic vinegar, among other delicious delights! You can also choose from a selection of different champagnes depending on your palate.

Can’t wait till the weekend? You’re in for a treat! Draw an end to any day with flutes of bubbly while watching the sunset. Pairing perfectly with this is French oysters, caviar and blini, and an assortment of small bites and sweets that appeal to everyone! Choose between Ultimate Decadence featuring Champagne with caviar or oyster or Experience Set with three different sets of wine, cocktail or mocktails and the addition of snacks.

Fado Nights at Café Bela Vista

With a nod to art, culture, and heritage, Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau, in collaboration with the Association Casa de Portugal Macau, presents Fado Nights at Café Bela Vista. This summer, Macau locals and visitors are about to rediscover the charms of the city. Locals will be able to experience fun-filled and musical nights with traditional Portuguese music, Fado, accompanied by tapas and wine from Portugal as well. Head there with some friends and enjoy a Thursday night with a touch of Portuguese charm!

In July, Grill 58 is presenting Teppanyaki Escapades: Australian Black Truffle and a specially-crafted menu that is filled with bursts of flavors, accentuating the novel blend of time-honored Japanese techniques with innovative pairings of ingredients. Each month, a handpicked premium ingredient is featured in a themed 12-course omakase menu, curated to marry the best mixture of flavors to entice all palates. Previous menus included luxurious ingredients such as uni, caviar, truffles, tuna, Japanese Wagyu, and more.

Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021 – Advance and Retreat of Globalization (Main Exhibition)

A four-month mega international cultural and artistic event, Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021 was inaugurated on July 15, at the Macao Museum of Art, presenting a movable feast of the city. On the occasion, the Main Exhibition themed “Advance and Retreat of Globalization” will also be inaugurated, with three exhibitions, distributed through various areas of the Macao Museum of Art, reflecting on the advances and retreats of globalization through the arts.

Curated by Qiu Zhijie, the Main Exhibition at the Macao Museum of Art is divided into three parts: “The Dream of Mazu”, “Matteo Ricci’s Labyrinth of Memory” and “Advance and Retreat of Globalization”, providing a space for reflection and discussion on globalization and individuality, life and dreams, remoteness and proximity, security and happiness, among others. The three thematic exhibitions feature over 40 artists from nearly 20 countries and regions, presenting more than 100 pieces/sets of artworks.

When: July 16–October 17, 2021

Learn something new this weekend

For expats in Macau, classes taught in English are few and far between over here. Gugumelo is a group of super mischievous alien creatures with a great sense of humor, and they love to travel around the universe and transform into different forms to meet people on earth. Macao Fashion Gallery Exclusive Fashion Collections Showroom: PUI

A collection of unique women’s wear by the brand PUI will be displayed at this phase of the 2021 Brand Story—Macao Original Fashion Exhibition, where the designer presents the concepts of eco-friendly clothing, traditional crafts, and cultural inheritance through the works.

Inspired by the Book of Changes, the essence of traditional Chinese culture, the designer Yaya Tam, founder of PUI, uses the “water” element from the Five Elements as the design concept and combines traditional Chinese culture with modern clothing, manifesting the unique theme “Lack of Water in the Five Elements”.

In addition, a sales space, the 2021 Exclusive Fashion Collections—Showroom, is available, bringing together clothing and accessories from 34 local original brands. Members of the public are welcome to participate and purchase their favorite products.
