Le French GourMay 2017 is back with incredible Champagne Partners in Hong Kong and Macau. With dedicated “Champagne” Menus at restaurants and bars, the month of May is filled with culinary delights in the region.

LE FRENCH MAY: A GOLDEN WAY OF LIFE – TRÈS’ORS
The audience will admire major gold pieces and work from French museums and private collections. Among them are remarkable religious pieces from the Musée Notre-Dame de Fourvière in Lyon, exceptional 18th and 19th century clocks and watches from the Musée de l’Horlogerie de Morteau, a unique 1930s sculpture – La Jeune Fille à la Colombe – by Zadkine, jewels from the Boucheron collection and by French 20th century artists, a gold embroidered clutch by Van Cleef and Arpels and an evening bag adorned with gilded bronze by French sculptor Claude Lalanne, gilded perfume bottles from the 19th and 20th century as well as gold beauty accessories.

28TH MACAO ARTS FESTIVAL (MAF)
The 28th Macao Arts Festival (MAF), organized by the Cultural Affairs Bureau and themed “Heterotopia”, will be held from April 28 to May 31, establishing through texts, stories, images, music and imagery, a diversified space away from reality yet closely connected to it, bringing new possibilities to existence. Tickets will be available through the Macau Ticketing Network from 10am on March 12 (Sunday).

DISCOVER MACAO: LOCAL INDIES REVISITED
As the first art cinematheque in Macau, one of the major tasks of Cinematheque Passion is to promote Macau indies and films actively and widely so that the residents, tourists and those interested can know more about the Macao production and culture through the screen. MACAO INTERNATIONAL DRAGON BOAT RACES
The Dragon Boat Festival which falls on the 5th day of the 5th month in Chinese Lunar Calendar originally commemorated the ancient patriotic Chinese poet Qu Yuan, who protested corruption by drowning himself. Today, the celebrations revolve around the hugely popular Macao International Dragon Boat Races contested in late May or June on Nam Van Lake on the historic Praia Grande shorefront. Dragon boat teams from Hong Kong, Japan, the U.S., the Philippines, China, Thailand, Singapore, Korea, Australia and Europe frequently participate in the races.

BREAK THE WORD BOUNDARIES – “TENTATIVE NOTEBOOK – WORKS BY RUI RASQUINHO”
The artist invites us to go beyond the white cube gallery and walk into the staged studio. We are even free to touch and turn the pages of his sketches and notebooks and “read” his notes that are without words. Its single-pointedness plunges us into a world of subtlety and impermanence, an ever-changing landscape of the same substance.

PROCESSION OF OUR LADY OF FATIMA
2017 marks the 100th Anniversary of the apparitions of Fátima, the mass (5:45pm) and the Procession of Our Lady of Fátima (6:45pm) will be held to celebrate this auspicious occasion. One of the city’s most spectacular events, the annual Procession of Our Lady of Fátima features white-robed women carrying the statue of Our Lady of Fátima through the historic streets of Macao. Commencing from the Cathedral, they travel through Nam Van and Sai Van, and finally reach at the hilltop Penha Chapel, where a solemn mass is held, attracting large numbers of respectful followers and visitors every year.

Xavier Dolan can be described as the most top new young filmmaker over the past few years in the international film arena. Coming from Canada, he is prolific in filming six feature films in seven years from “I Killed My Mom” in 2009 to “It’s Only The End of the World” in 2016. All his films are much awaited and won acclaim from the media and the film festivals. Except being a director, Dolan is also a scriptwriter, actor, editor, producer, and costume designer.
