Though born and bread in the north of England, artist, writer and producer Jessica El Mal traded the Mancunian rain for the sunshine and palm trees of southern China. Conveniently located close to Macau, Hong Kong and Shenzhen, Zhuhai is the perfect base to experience China.
Mesmerized by the developments in culture, language and cuisine in this pivotal moment in South China, Jessica is never short on subjects to write about or moments to capture with the lens of her camera. As well as writing for magazines and academic journals like ‘Macau Lifestyle’, ‘Corridor 8’ and ‘Engage’ among many others, Jessica is also a visual artist. At her best when running between meetings—attempting not to spill her Americano as she goes—she likes to keep busy and juggle many different projects. Her newest adventure, an MA in Post-Colonial Culture and Global Policy at Goldsmiths University London, is going to be challenging but will provide an ample backdrop for writing about international topics.
