2019! Outloud Street Art Festival

The 3rd Outloud Street Art Festival invited several remarkable street artists from all over the world to gather in Macau and unleash their creativity, bringing a great visual show to the city. The festival’s line-up includes large graffiti wall painting sessions, music, dance, DJ performances, artwork displays, a car exhibition, workshops, game booths, food stalls, charity auctions and introductory sessions about graffiti.

“Lingua Franca – 2nd Annual Arts Exhibition between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”
This exhibition is one of the series of activities of “Art Macao” and the “2nd Encounter in Macao – Arts and Cultural Festival between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries”, showcasing the diverse manifestations and development of contemporary art in China and Portuguese-speaking countries, and offering a new experience of Chinese and Portuguese visual arts to residents and tourists of Macau.
The exhibition “Lingua Franca” features numerous photography and video works by 22 representative artists from 10 countries and regions, including Mainland China, Macau, and the Portuguese-speaking countries, showcasing the distinctive regional cultures and diverse customs. This has led to exchanges and dialogues through the artworks, allowing multiculturalism to resonate, and composing wonderful art chapters from China and Portuguese-speaking countries. This exhibition is held at No. 55 – 57 Avenida do Coronel Mesquita (Green Townhouses), which is open for the first time after its restoration, as well as at the Former Municipal Cattle Stable (Ox Warehouse), bringing Chinese and Portuguese artistic atmosphere to the streets. During the exhibition period, visitors who collect stamps from the two exhibition venues may receive an exquisite limited-edition souvenir.

The Alluring Palette Afternoon Tea
The Ritz-Carlton Bar & Lounge introduces a limited-time-only tea set for the months of September and October. The Alluring Palette Afternoon Tea features sweet and savory treats inspired by the colors of the spectrum. These delights are made from all-natural vegetables and seasonal fruits, with no artificial coloring added.
The savory selections include the mouthwatering organic yellow and red beetroot, honey mascarpone and charcoal toast, a sweet and sour treat made with selected organic Australian yellow and red beetroot. On the sweet side, you can enjoy the cantaloupe almond panna cotta, which boldly uses fresh Japanese cantaloupe and 48 hours to slow cook and puree in order to achieve a fine jelly texture. The chef has added a layer of almond panna cotta in the middle to complement the flavor and create a more balanced mouthfeel.

CHIO SIO CHI ‘MACAU SCENERY’ MINI OIL PAINTING EXHIBITION
2019 marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and the 20th anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland. It’s a great honor for Macau Fisherman’s Wharf to join Hands with the Macao SAR Government to host the grand event of Art Macao. On this special occasion, the miniature oil painting exhibition, “Macau Scenery” Mini Oil Paintings by Chio Sio Chi will be presented at Macau Fisherman’s Wharf.
Chio Sio Chi’s “Macau Scenery” Mini Oil Painting Exhibition features over 300 four-inch square pieces from his vast oil painting repertoire that dates back to the end of the last century. The artworks in this exhibition capture and frame the soul of Macau. The artist has enabled hundreds of these miniature masterpieces to come to life with dimension and detail. Chio’s delicate brush strokes have effectively revived the interplay of Chinese and Western cultures through the decades.

Macau International Mime Festival 2019
“Time, Time, Kano’s time” is a highly original, very funny, solo street performance that defies description; completely absurd and yet easy to understand. Wearing her trademark blue work jersey, she creates her own precise pantomime universe, with silence and laughter as her only tools. Combining pantomime, music, songs, and silence, Kano Mami strikes that delicate balance between comedy and melancholy that will resonate directly in the hearts of audiences of all ages and from all over the world.
“Le Voisin/The Neighbour” is part of the MIMF 2019 line up and it’s integrated into the series of activities of “Art Macao” events. The protagonist is a crotchety, nerdy, boy-next-door who tries to find love in a dancing singles night, surviving in the wild and fierce nature, while sharing the genuine magic of Christmas time. “Le Voisin” grabs the audience’s attention with the zany twirl of joyful comedy that makes one feel happy! Author, director, and actor Benoît Turjman worked with costume designer Johanna Lavorel and lights designer Maxime Boiteux to bring a unique show to Macau.
Coming all the way from Brazil, award-winning and internationally acclaimed clown and magician, El Diablo is back in Macau with “El Diablo Of The Card 2.0”, an astonishing new show. El Diablo is traversing 52 countries, thrilling audiences around the world with a unique card magic style that combines improvisation, a clown’s madness and unbelievable magic skills using only a deck of cards!

Little Rabbit Lanterns: An Exhibition by Carlos Marreiros and Friends – Part 15
“Little Rabbit Lanterns – An Exhibition by Carlos Marreiros and Friends Part 15 – On the Occasion of the Celebration of the 70th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China”. It showcases creative interpretations–designed by artists from all around the world–of rabbit-shaped lanterns. The exhibition’s inauguration takes place during Albergue SCM’s celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival, this year under the theme “Celebration of the Moon”. The program includes outdoor live music performances, and festive food and drink, as well as a calligraphy demonstration. During the event, the Albergue SCM patio is filled with rabbit lanterns.

Cinematheque Passion Presents: Pain and Glory
Cinematheque Passion showcases Spanish film maestro director Pedro Almodóvar’s latest work Pain and Glory from September to October, 2019. Pedro Almodóvar is 70 years old on September 25 this year, known for colorful melodramatic films that often feature sexual themes. He won Best Director at Cannes Film Festival and the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film with All About My Mother. He has continued to win many prestigious awards, including the Career Golden Lion at this year’s Venice Film Festival.
Pedro Almodóvar is a key filmmaker with extraordinary contributions to the film industry. Pain and Glory, directed and written by Pedro Almodóvar, stars Antonio Banderas, Asier Etxeandia, Penélope Cruz, Julieta Serrano, and Leonardo Sbaraglia. Pain and Glory tells of a series of reencounters experienced by Salvador Mallo, a film director in physical decline, reflecting on the choices he has made in life as past and present come crashing down around him. This February, Cinematheque‧Passion had hosted the “Director-in- Focus: AMOR Almodóvar” film festival and showcased thirteen of the director’s works. The movie is in Spanish with Chinese and English subtitles.

WORLD PRESS PHOTO 2019 MACAU EXHIBITION
Visit the World Press Photo Exhibition 2019 on its world-wide tour showcasing the stories that matter with photography from the World Press Photo Contest 2019. The 2019 exhibition features the World Press Photo of the Year, and for the first time, the World Press Photo Story of the Year. The winners were chosen by an independent jury that reviewed more than 78,801 photographs entered by 4,738 photographers from 129 countries.
The World Press Photo Foundation is a global platform connecting professionals and audiences through trustworthy visual journalism and storytelling. Founded in 1955 when a group of Dutch photographers organized a contest to share their work with an international audience, the competition has grown into the world’s most prestigious photography award and their mission has expanded.
