Tap Seac Square is the largest public square in Macau. During holiday periods each year, the square is filled with decorations and themed performances. Chinese New Year, Mid-Autumn Festival and Macau Grand Prix are particularly good times of the year to visit this spot. This is a highly utilized location, where festival celebrations, events, fairs and performances are held throughout the year. Tap Seac Square has several coffeeshops and places with cool activities such as swimming–at the Estoril public swimming pool–and a street focusing on Thai food restaurants.
There are bright yellow emblematic buildings around it housing one of Macau’s oldest health centers, but also an art gallery, Macao Central Library and the Macao Archives. Both Jao Tsung-I Academy and Lou Lim Ieoc Garden are also close by.
On a normal day, you can find the elderly doing Tai Chi in the morning, parents playing badminton with their children, or locals walking their dogs. Tap Seac Square is located 10 minutes away from Senado Square and it’s close to a lot of landmarks and venues, including the Portuguese Consulate in Macau and Hong Kong, Casa de Portugal, Teatro Capitol shopping mall,
Hip and modern neighbourhood St. Lazarus is also close by, within a five-minutes walk. Featuring cultural hub Albergue SCM and vintage shops such as Collectore and Vintage Market, it’s ideal for an afternoon walk.
