A Pearl of the Sea – Exhibition of Macao’s Urban Evolution
Macau has been increasing land resources through reclamation since the mid-19th century, which subsequently has had a profound impact on its overall urban development. The gathering and integration of different cultures over the past centuries have resulted in the combination of Chinese and Western styles in the city’s architecture and the emergence of new landscapes amid urban development. A Pearl of the Sea – Exhibition of Macao’s Urban Evolution features 101 exhibits divided into four sections: Geographical Change, Past View and New Image, Infrastructure Constructions and A New Chapter, seeking to give both residents and tourists a better understanding of Macau’s achievements in a variety of fields over the last 20 years since the handover, and present a brand new historical image of Macau.
Urban functions of Macau have been improving with the completion of large infrastructure projects; through public transport facilities such as ferry terminals, sea-crossing bridges, the airport, and the Light Rapid Transit, Macau is connected to neighboring cities and many other places around the world. To complement the exhibition, an educational area and multimedia installations have been made available inside the venue to give visitors a more realistic and intriguing experience of Macau’s urban development.

TeamLab SuperNature Macao is a groundbreaking permanent interactive experience opening at The Venetian Macao in June, 2020. Cotai Expo boasts 5,000 square meters of labyrinthine floor space. With eight meter-high ceilings throughout, the space is transformed by teamLab into an extremely complex, three-dimensional world across varying elevations, featuring immersive and compelling artworks.
This is a single, massive world comprised of works by art collective teamLab that aims to explore new perceptions of the world and the continuity between humans and nature. It is a “body immersive” museum centered around a group of works that blur the boundaries between people’s bodies and art. In teamLab SuperNature, people immerse their bodies in art with others, influencing and becoming a part of the artworks themselves. People become one with the art, blurring their perception of the boundaries between the body and the artwork, and thereby recognizing the continuity between the self and the world. There are a lot more installations on-site, so be sure to head there with the whole family! Kids are going to be thrilled with all the fun and interaction teamLab SuperNature allows.

Art Power Jamming – Friendship Chapter: “Self” by Yaya Vai
This exhibition series not only creates an exchange platform for different artists who embody different talents and artistic skills but also allow the general public and tourists to appreciate their unique artworks at the show venue. All artworks embrace the same goal–that is to express the vitality of art.
The artist explains, “To start with a universal question: ‘Who I am?’ From the family perspective, I am a daughter, a sister, a wife, and daughter-in-law. From a society perspective, I am an administration executive, a teacher. But from an inner perspective, how is myself? Through the process of this series of art creation, I dig out my feelings, struggles, likes, thoughts, dreams, and find out more about ‘real’ me. It doesn’t matter whether a woman is flower or vase, I am who I am. Ladies, love yourself and make your dreams come true.”
Born in Macau, Yaya studied business administration in college and obtained a master’s degree. Starting from 2000, Yaya started learning sketching and oil painting. Recently, she has more participation in various art events and education. Throughout these experiences, she realized that there is no age limit to become an artist.
When: July 11–August 21, 2020
Where: 10 Fantasia, 10 Calçada da Igreja de São Lázaro, St. Lazarus District, Macau

Meditation & Energy Healing Workshop
Energy Healing is a “magical power” accessible to anyone who is curious and eager to learn. In this workshop, they will first use meditation as a tool for noticing the base wave patterns in the body. After they tune into their “calm waters”, they’re then able to “throw stones in the water”–to make the energy waves move. This is done with the assistance of the teacher, that will go around individually activating and amplifying the energy fields in the participants’ bodies & hands. The teacher will help participants “figure out” how their hands interact with their energy fields.
Mostly they will connect with the Energy Healing experience as a means of channeling pure energy from nature so that people feel calmer and recharged with “good energies”. At the end of this workshop participants will be able to use this new skill to apply on themselves whenever they feel depleted, to replenish themselves. The workshop facilitator, Rita Gonçalves, recommends wearing comfortable clothes and head there with an open mind.
